Automotive Remote Workstations

Due to the steadily growing complexity of software in vehicles, all DevOps topics are becoming significantly more important. This is why continuous and automated tests play a central role in our development projects. Since 2013, we have been continuously developing our in-house remote system (HiL farm) with the goal of virtualizing development workstations as much as possible. In addition to its use in development projects, this also optimizes the integration of our nearshore locations.

The focus is on a cost-efficient setup, with the majority of the test equipment being customised to specific use cases and developed in-house. The booking system for the workstations and the control via APIs are also developed in-house.

Our remote workstations are full HiL (hardware-in-the-loop) systems that enable comprehensive integration and system tests on real hardware. The hardware infrastructure is managed centrally by a small team at our headquarters in Wöllstadt. The desk-sharing principle enables employees worldwide to access and share data and hardware. Our HiL farm currently consists of 96 standardised remote workstations and is largely used for infotainment and displays.
